Twas the Night Before Christmas (NBA Style)

Twas the night before Christmas,
and all through the league,
not a player was stirring,
not even CP3.

For tomorrow the season
was set to begin,
the season that looked
like it might not have been.

"We want to play basketball,"
the commissioner said,
when the new deal was finally read.

Then how come it took
149 days,
when you guys kept insisting
to go your separate ways

From July 1st
to December 25th,
thoughts of a 2012 champion
seemed to be a myth.

The season will only be shortened
by 16 games,
to a 66 game season,
but who's to blame?

The owners, the players,
is it anyone's fault?
That the off-season and workouts
were put to a halt?

The trade rumors created
more drama in the league,
and also added a new element of intrigue.

Chris Paul the Hornet,
Laker, who?
turns out he is in L.A.,
but he'll be wearing red and blue.

Christmas day is always
full of excitement and cheer,
but for NBA fans,
it'll be the first chance to break out the gear.

To start things off,
there will be a tripleheader,
including teams like the Celtics, Heat, Mavs, & Lakers,
what could be better?

And that night the Warriors
will face the Clippers and CP3.
Could this be the year Paul adds
another 3 initials to his title, MVP?

For Lakers fans, losing CP3
isn't your only concern.
Kobe's got a torn wrist ligament,
doubt you can blame that one on Commissioner Stern.

Tomorrow's the day,
who'll outshine the rest?
Will the Dallas Maverick's prove
they're still the best?

The fans will be happy,
if any remain.
All that matters is,
we're back in the game.
